As a follow up to my post about last week's Entourage.
Sloan is moving to New York.
Which I'm interpreting to mean that the show is ending with E moving to New York to be with her.
And again, with the whining, if it's anything else.

I Wanna Be Your Superhero
The time has come, as I always knew, hoped and dreaded that it would.
Entourage has begun it's final season.
Believe it or not, I'm more emotional about this than I was about Harry Potter.
I think it has something to do with the moment of the thing. Harry was an era. Vince and the boys, they're just a moment. A very distinct moment, that is now over.
Last season ended on a low note, even for Entourage. Vince was being arrested for coke posession after Eminem kicked the crap out of him. Sloan had just asked Eric to sign a prenup, Turtle's tequila deal was running away from him, Ari's wife had kicked him out and Drama was, well, Drama.
When we open for season 8, Vince is on his way out of rehab (relieved exhale), Eric and Sloan broke up (again, this story line is boring and they should get married already), Turtle's tequila was actually doing quite well, as was Drama's impending cartoon, Johnny's Bananas. (This is a bizarre flip in Entourage-land, when Turtle and Drama do well, and Vince and Eric don't.) And Ari's wife asked him for a divorce.
As much as I've appreciated the extra time with the boys, I think that the show was given a satisfactory conclusion in season 6, Vince leaving to shoot Ferrari in Italy, Ari getting the agency back on track after the disaster that was Andrew, and Eric choosing to stay in LA with Sloan rather than go to Italy with the boys.
Because for all that Vince gets the attention, Entourage is really the story of the team behind the man. This is Eric and Ari's story.
And if this story ends anywhere but with those two happy with the women they love, Doug Ellin will be receiving many angry letters from me. (Except he probably won't. But I will whine about it, a lot.)

Relations
One of the things that I've been noticing a lot lately are the stock characters that populate me favorite TV shows. So I've assembled some of my favorite sets here.
*NOTE* I decided to only go with shows that are currently on the air. If I wanted to fish back into the cancellation zone, this list would be far too epically long.
Andy Dwyer (Parks and Recreation), Finn Hudson (Glee), and Marshall Erickson (How I Met Your Mother)

These three have truly been cut from the same midwestern doofus cloth. Sure, Marshall has risen above the other two, after all he's a top corporate lawyer in New York. And while Finn is still in high school, let's be honest, he's probably not going to get past mid level insurance agent. And Andy is a shoe shine boy at a tiny city hall. But there's something that all three of them have in common, they're adorable, funny, and unfailingly sweet. OK, Finn not so much lately, what with the whole stealing Quinn from Sam thing, but generally, super sweet.
Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl), Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother), and Ari Gold (Entourage)

Where to begin? The "I am so above you attitude?" Check. The catch phrases? "Let's Hug it Out Bitch?" "Legen...wait for it..." "I'm Chuck Bass!" "DARY!" Check. The deep seeded insecurity that creates the bravado that masks a heart of gold? Check and check! Honestly, this one is what got me thinking about these connections, when my friend Crystan proposed the theory that Bart Bass was Barney's father, and that there should be an epic cross over between GG and HIMYM. (Other storylines include a Serena/Ted hookup, because he reminds her of Dan, but maybe someday I'll outline the entire plot in a post!) Ari comes in for two reasons, like Chuck he is a ruthless business man, and like Barney, he's a pig, but oblivious to it, and therefore still kind of lovable. Also, the suits. Which are really important.
Rebecca Logan (Greek) and Alice Verdura (Hellcats)

These two are quite literally the exact same character. They even look the same. They manipulate their respective systems to stay on top. (Bex the Cyprus Rhodes Greek system and Alice the Hellcats) But when it comes down to it, Rebecca would do anything for ZBZ and Alice would do anything for the squad. That's why we don't want them to go away. That's also why Santana Lopez (Glee) wasn't included on this list. Because as much as I love her, she'd probably sell New Directions down the river if they got too much on her bad side.
Mac (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Brendan (My Boys)

Aside from the looks again, these two have a few other key characteristics in common. An affinity for tee shirts, they both own bars, they both get caught up in oh so many hijinks. Plus they both have strong sexual tension with their best friend/roommate. Of course it's slightly less dysfunctional in Brendan's case, mostly because PJ is not a sociopath and Dennis is.
Andy Bernard (The Office) and Rajesh Kuthrapali (The Big Bang Theory)

Both men add an element of innocence and happiness to their respective groups. Both are socially awkward and unaware and both belong to distinct social groups. (Geek and Prep) Both are probably my favorite part of both of their shows.
Brooke Davis (One Tree Hill), Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl) and Rachel Berry (Glee)

Can't win for trying these girls. Although Brooke finally got married and Rachel finally realized that she needs to focus on her career and well, OK I stopped paying attention to Gossip Girl because it got terrible, but I'm sure Blair will get it together. Last I watched she had just started Columbia. Also, Rachel will never ever be happy until she realizes that she and Puck need to get together unless she ends up with Jesse St. James.
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) and Commander Steve McGarret (Hawaii Five-O)

At first sight, maybe not. But then when you think about it, they're both socially awkward, incredibly good at their jobs and dependent on a group of people who are less effecient than them to do their jobs. Which of course leads right into:
Leonard Hoffsteader (The Big Bang Theory) and Danny "Danno" Williams (Hawaii Five-O)

They spend most of their time correcting their brilliant counterpart, in the snarkyest way possible and dedicated to a pretty blond girl. Sure, Leonard it's his ex girlfriend Penny, and Danno it's his daughter Grace, but the idea is the same.
So, those are mine, any to add?

CSD and It's Victims
I've spoken before about my severe case of CSD or Character Separation Disorder. It's a terrible disorder that effects pop culture junkies everywhere. It is the inability to separate actors from the popular characters that they've played over the years, usually this happens with actors who work in franchise films, or who have been on television.
Here are some of the actors who I have the most severe cases of CSD with:
Joshua Jackson: The Mighty Ducks, D2: The Mighty Ducks, D3: The Mighty Ducks, Dawson's Creek, Fringe
For most people suffering from CSD Josh will always be Pacey Whitter, the lovable screw up. But anyone who's worth their pop culture weight, knows that Pacey was just a teenaged sexually active version of Charlie Conway, captain of The Quack Attack. And his current character, Peter, is just Pacey in a lab, and since Pacey was really just Charlie, without the skates and with a hotter girlfriend, it stands to reason that Peter is Charlie, all grown up and in a lab.
The Entire Cast of Entourage
This applies most strongly to Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven and Kevin Connolly, but mostly because Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Dillon haven't done much since taking on Turtle and Drama. I can't be the only person who watched The Devil Wears Prada and thought, "Why is Vinnie following Aquaman with this? It doesn't make any sense for his projected career path." Or when I watched He's Just Not That Into You and I felt so bad for poor E when Scarlett Johansson was treating him like crap (the same way his ex Kristen did!) or well, Piven's a totally different story. Watch Keeping Up With The Steins, where he plays Ari but without the potty mouth. Or PCU where he plays Ari running a frat house. Or...well, I think you get the point.
Nathan Fillion: Firefly, Serenity, Castle, Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog
Let's be honest, Nathan Fillion is one of those actors who has fully embraced CSD. Castle is just a riff of Captain Malcolm Reynolds, just like Captain Hammer is a perversion of him. Castle even took this to the next level.
Matt Czurchy: Gilmore Girls, The Good Wife
Logan Huntzberger was a slimy, scummy pathetic excuse for a man until Rory Gilmore whipped him into shape. Matt's character on The Good Wife, Cary, is a slimy, scummy excuse for a man, with no Rory in sight to whip him into shape. This is a clear case of the writers even embracing it, when in last week's episode Cary stalled a judge on the phone as Alicia finished preparing a last minute brief, in the exact same way that Logan did when Paris self destructed one night at The Yale Daily News and he and Rory had to save the day.
Aubrey Graham aka Drake. Degrassi: The Next Generation, Huge ass Rapper
OK, so the first time my friends had me listen to "Unstoppable" I was impressed. I'm not a huge rap fan, but I like some of it (Eminem, Jay-Z, Biggie and Outcast) Then someone told me that it was Jimmy from Degrassi. I laughed, and said "yeah right!" Except it is. Personally, I like this better.
Because let's face it. Ash is a bitch. She had a right to her anger, because I mean, hell, if my boyfriend got Manny Santos pregnant, I wouldn't be happy either. (Of course if my boyfriend was Craig, I might forgive him.) But still, I'm just saying long before "Unstoppable" he was rapping about far more important things. Like how Ash should make Craig lunch.
Tomorrow I'll write about actors who have miraculously overcome CSD. Check it out

Playing With The Boys

Got caught up on Entourage today.
Can I just say that I really really love the story lines this season.
While I'm really frustated with the Eric/Sloan will they or won't they, it makes for damn good TV. I love Eric's new job, especially his assistant, and his new nemesis. It works well.
The Vince's stalker storyline is pure brilliance. Honestly, it's been three seasons since Vince has anything real to do, except smile and hook up with girls. This is giving a whole new dimension, plus showing how through the stratosphere famous he's gotten.
I actually like what they've been doing with Drama. Usually Drama heavy story lines annoy me. But this one, with him threatening his boss, who is talking shit about Jamie, and then almost getting fired, but not getting fired. I think I like it because I love the dynamic they've built with Jamie and the boys. She fits into the group well, and I can't get over the sheer adorableness of the whole situation.
The Ari story line is not as strong as it once was. I feel like they've sent him off into exile. We haven't seen Ari and Eric spar in a while, we haven't had a meeting in a while. I like the Andrew Klein stuff, every once in a while, but not every episode. Although I loved, loved, loved seeing Aaron Sorkin guest star last week. Love Aaron Sorkin. West Wing <3.>

All the time and all the money
This week's Entourage was a great episode!
Ari's storyline, that is Andrew's affair with Taylor Towsend...I mean Lizzie Grant...coming to fruition was probably my favorite. Mostly because anything that bring the Gold family into play always makes it great. Also it featured David Schwimmer. I love and miss Friends every day.
Vince whined about having tons of free time and lots of money but no one to hang out with.
Turtle and Jamie went shopping so he would have clothes to wear when he went back to school, and Jamie agreed to do a spot on Five Towns as Drama's love interest.
E continued his relationship with Ashley, who really really bugs me, and decided to close The Murphy Group. I know this is so that the show can continue next season and everything (the decision being made that this will not in fact be the end for the boys!)
But my main observation with the way this season is going is Jamie's involvment in the stories. In an interview the show's creators once stated that "No woman would ever be a part of the 'family' of this show. It just doesn't fit the dynamic." Two seasons late, Jamie is most definitely a part of the "family." She's been featured more than any of the other girlfriends, and that includes, Sloan, Emily, Mandy and even Amanda, spends her time not just with Turtle but with the guys.
That being said, Ashley must be destroyed and Sloan must return.

All by myself...
Let me start by apologizing for being such a horrible blogger lately. I finally got a job (Hooray!) So I've been juggling that, the musical that I'm producing/being in, (Tom Foolery's Annie Get Your Gun, show info here, if you're in the Northern New Jersey area, come check it out. You won't be sorry!) and of course a summer TV schedule that is more crowded than I thought it would be. I plan on covering (now that I'm back) True Blood, Entourage, Merlin, and the morbid experiment that I just have to watch 10 Things I Hate About You.
Today though, Entourage. The season six premiere was last night. It was an exceptionally good season premiere, not a particularly great episode of Entourage. While Vince's comeback is now cemented, (Gatsby is about to premiere and the buzz is great!) Five Towns is renewed yet again (good to see Drama get his) E's business and love life are both on fire, and Turtle is dating Jamie Lynne-Sigler (adorable!) not much has changed at Casa Chase. That is until Vince decides to finally get his driver's license, and E gets a call from his ex (and let's face it, the love of his life) Sloane telling him she knows of a great house for him to rent. The two bffs of bffs must now face in impending and necessary seperation.
Meanwhile, Ari's acquisition of an old friend/TV agent for MGA is making his end of the agency boom and Barbara pissed. And Lloyd wants to be promoted and he wants it now. Ari freaks, until Lloyd plays hardball and calls his wife, when Mrs. Ari, Sarah and Jonah get on Lloyd's side, even the king pin himself can't resist. Are declares that if Lloyd can survive 100 days of pure humiliation, he will be an agent.
The episode ends with Vince in the dark house by himself, for the first time in his life. If last season was the focus shift, from E and Vince, to Vince and Turtle, this season is going to be the exploration of growing up.
Oh and Sloane and Eric are TOTALLY getting back together. Which is great, because I love her.

Isn't it bromantic...
So last night I watched Monday's Big Bang Theory where Leonard's mother (played by Christine Barinski LOVE HER!) called out Raj and Howard on their "Asexual homosexual marriage" in non genius terms, a bromance!
I love the term "Bromance" I think its really funny, and being the pop culture historian that I am I'm going to offer in this post some of the greatest bromances throughout time. These are my ten favorites, in no particular order.
1. Casablanca: Rick/Sam, Rick/Louis
The classic love story actually offers us two of the greatest Bromances ever. Rick and Sam, and Rick and Louis. With Sam and Rick you get the blind loyalty that is so important to the Bromance. Even at double the salary Sam won't leave Rick, and Rick, when selling his Cafe Americain, makes sure first and foremost that Sam is taken care of. And as for Louis and Rick, its all about the banter baby. There's nothing in the world better for a Bromance than banter. And like many a good one, it is declared, OK, so its the last line of the movie but it is still very important. "Louis, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
2. M*A*S*H Hawkeye/Trapper and Hawkeye/BJ
M*A*S*H was groundbreaking, it was anti-war at a time when being anti-war=being anti-American. It dropped the laugh track. It pioneered the bromance! Hawkeye and Trapper drank, pranked and bantered for the first three seasons, and then Hawkeye and BJ drank, pranked, bantered and preached for the rest. Honestly, you just can't beat them, because of the Alda factor. Anything Alan Alda touches just becomes better. Honestly, it does.
3. The Odd Couple Felix/Oscar
Whether its the play (there were too many pictures to pick), the movie (One of my favorites, Jack Lemmon is a true Bromance pioneer, he was also in Some Like It Hot!) or the TV show, Felix and Oscar are so important to the bromance that they need to be mentioned. After all their fights bordered on marital. Oh right, and they're funny, and Neil Simon created them. Just go with it.
4. Boy Meets World: Corey/Shawn
I'm a child of the 90s. I wanted a relationship with my best friend like theirs. Not that my best friends aren't awesome...but we aren't Corey and Shawn, because as much as Corey and Topanga are the "love story" of this little show that could, it was really all about Corey and Shaw. And Eric and Feeney...but I can only do so much in one post.
5. The Sandlot Smalls/Benny
OK, so The Sandlot isn't exactly a pioneer in the Bromance field. And maybe I could have looked harder to find a picture of both of them...but look at those eyes...as my friends Beatriz and I once said, we were sexually attracted to Benny The Jet before we knew that we were. He's beautiful...right, OK, so Benny and Smalls were best friends and stayed so for their entire lives. And they are legends...or Benny is. Really he's the important one...and look at those eyes!
6. Scrubs JD/Turk
So, once upon a time we didn't know who Zach Braff was. And the world was a sadder place. And Donald Faison was merely the cute guy from Clueless and Remember The Titans. But now they're our chocolate bear and vanilla bear. They've serenaded each other more times than most straight couples on TV, including the ode to bromance "Guy Love."
7. Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Various shorts and TV Guest Appearances Jay and Silent Bob
Kevin Smith put the bromance into his movies long before Judd Apatow did, all of them center around a guy on guy friendship (Except Jersey Girl, but we don't count it.) But nothing comes anywhere near the hetero life mates who make their way all through the entire series. Maybe its because Jason and Kevin really are so tight. Maybe its because Kevin and Scott Mosier have a real bromance, or because if it weren't for him we wouldn't know about the greatest Hollywood bromance, Ben and Matt, but something about these two drug peddling ne'erdowells just brings a smile to my face. That and Silent Bob is just so wise. Honestly the guy can make you think, and with just a line from Star Wars
8. D2 and D3 The Mighty Ducks Fulton Reed/Dean Portman
Sadly, I couldn't find a picture of the Bash Brothers...but I would be a poor poor 90s kid if I left them out. Honestly...they're wonderful, and random, since one scene they hate each other and the next they are BFFs...that's what Fanfiction is for friends, really!
9. Will and Grace Jack/Will
The gay bromance is not only often overlooked but its fairly complicated, especially the way its shown in pop culture. But I think Jack and Will have the balance down. They aren't at all involved romantically...although there is a question as to Jack's feelings about his bff. They aren't even soulmates as they have their soulmates elsewhere (Will has Grace, Jack has Karen) and they even find romantic fulfillment elsewhere (Will had Vince, Jack has every gay man in New York, and Kevin Bacon) so they're just best friends, and they really are the best of, whether its heading out to a gay bar when Will has once again had his heart broken or sipping cappachino at Chez Jacques this is it for them, besties for evs!
10. Entourage Vince/Eric/Turtle/Drama/Ari
I think the picture says it all. They've been best friends forever, and Ari. They're family. The end.
So there it is...those are my top Bromances...what do you think? Anyone you would add to the list?

So there it is...those are my top Bromances...what do you think? Anyone you would add to the list?

Wish list
So I've been marathoning Entourage for the past few days, nearing the end of season 2, and I'm starting to compile my Entourage final season wish list.
1. Sloane and E reunited. Because I've been watching Season 2 and seeing the wonderful Eric and Sloane beginning, and the remembering sheer ridiculous stupidness that was their breakup, as well as their random awkward "We're obviously still in love" encounters, basically amount to Sloane and E are meant to be...see, I can rhyme.
2. Sal's opens. As always I want to see my Turtle succeed. Honestly? If Jaime Lynne Sigler puts the money into his Italian restuarant, I would eat there. It could be a fun little tie in, especially since she and Jerry Ferrara are a real couple now.
3. Vinnie gets an Oscar nod, if not a win. He's got Scorcese behind him now. Aquaman is back!
4. More Gold family. Period. End of story. I love the little boy who plays Ari's son, I think he's super cute. The Sarah story lines are always good, and Mrs. Ari might be my favorite character on the show.
5. Billy Walsh's return. True he almost sank Vince's career, and he's a massive tool, but he also gave us the best random movie line from any of the random parts of Vince's movie's we've seen, "Are you kidding? I am Queen's Boulevard."
6. Lloyd gets promoted. Really, the guy has put up with so much and been unflinchingly loyal and he's responsible for Johnny Drama's comeback. He should be an agent by now.
7. Honestly? Don't care much how things turn out for Drama, he's where he needs to be.
8. Josh Weinstein goes down forever. Also Adam Davies.
9. Another wish for Turtle. He gets Saigon back, or discovers someone else.
10. Eric's company takes off. Really.

My Top 10 TV Moments of the Year: 2008
OK, so tis the season for Top 10 lists, and now I'm doing my first one ever. These are not necessarily the best, just my favorites, so here we go:
10. Perfection, always - Dancing With The Stars: Kristi Yamagucci's Win
Yes, I'm starting my list with my top guilty pleasure, that I don't really feel that guilty about. DWTS has had some kick ass champions in the past. Drew Lachey, Emmit Smith, Apollo Anton Ohno, but no one ever dominated like Kristi and Mark did. They got a 28 on the first week out, achieved a 30 earlier than anyone in the competition ever (For an amazing jive that would have and did made the Hough siblings jealous.) Of course they didn't have the stiffest competition. Jason Taylor was closest, and he couldn't touch them. Christian De La Fuente was good and loveable but again, Kristi and Mark just dominated. They had a perfect 30, 30, 30 and the fans behind them. It was nice to see a woman win for once...of course it repeated with Brooke Burke, and I keep meaning to check out the new cast, or see if its posted, but I seriously doubt anyone will ever beat Kristi's pure domination, it just won't happen.
9. "I can see Russia from my house" - Saturday Night Live: The Vice Presidential Debate.
I would be the world's worst TV writer if I overlooked the best political impression SNL's had since Will Ferrell's W. And no, I'm not talking about Tina Fey's Sarah Palin (Although it is amazing) I mean Jason Sedakis's Joe Biden. He even got the crazy eyes. And his declaration about the great city of Scranton, that "No one but me has ever come out of that hell hole!" had me laughing harder than I've ever laughed. And it would be just plain pop culture ignorant to overlook the fantastic impression of Governor Palin that Ms. Fey did. I'm still quoting it, "I'm going to ignore that question and talk about Israel...I'm not saying this to pander to Florida voters, since I was a little girl my two biggest loves were Israel and Cuban food!" It might have been the funniest speech ever done on SNL. I'm grateful for SNL's resurgence and Tina Fey's acceptance by the mainstream, it's been about seven years since I decided I wanted to be her. As my friend Katie put it, "It's a little strange. Everything that Tina Fey has accomplished, the first female head writer of SNL, the Mean Girls screenplay, all those Emmys for 30 Rock, what she gets mainstream recognition for is looking like some other lady."
8. "I want to call my mom!" - Entourage: Tree Trippers
This might be my new favorite episode of Entourage, replacing "One Day in The Valley," or "The Sundance Kids," which were always battling for first in the past. Anytime you take the boys out of LA or their natural habitat is always interesting. This episode, where they decide to take shrooms to make Vince's next career decision is a tour de force of their bonding pattern. Ari runs off on his own and spends the episode on the phone with Lloyd, trying to find his way back to the boys. Arnold, the boys lovable pitbull runs away from the group and the other four search after him. E loses the ability to speak, and Turtle realizes his own uselessness, and begins to beg for his mother. My favorite element of this whole season was the switch of focus from Drama to Turtle. I've always found Turtle endearing and wonderfully sweet and I was happy to see more of his stories told. And happy to see him made romantically fulfilled with Jamie Lynn Sigler.
7. "Same Sideburns, Same Commitment Issues." - 90210: The Bubble
I don't think anyone who's read this blog since September can possibly argue how excited I was when we found out the Dylan was the father of Kelly's son on 90210. Granted I was hoping for Brandon, but it really was an exciting little bit of taste of future plot lines. First of all, I'm still praying for Terminator's cancellation, so that we can get some David in, but honestly, the door is open for Dylan now, come on in Luke. We know you want to. Granted, it was after this that we got that positively classic 90210 moment, Brenda deletes Dylan from her cell phone, to save her friendship with Kelly...*sob* Dylan McKay, Brenda Walsh, soul mates no longer. OK, maybe they were never soul mates, I guess it was established in that episode where Dylan saw his past life and he and Kelly were married in the wild west and Brandon was like the sheriff or something that he and Kelly were soul mates. Whatever, those episodes right before Dylan left were pretty god awful. Let's hope when they bring him back stronger than they did when he came back for the last season of the original, personally I'm thinking Dylan and Brandon smackdown. Then Steve can say something obnoxious. It'll be great.
6. "I have stretch marks, I have a butt, that's who I am!" - America's Next Top Model: Cycle 10 Finale
God Bless Tyra Banks and all she's doing for women in America...that was sarcasm. But for real, Whitney, the first ever plus size model to with ANTM was a cool choice. Granted, Paulina Poriscova clearly hated her, and maybe she was a little more pageant queen than model (My sister would kill me if I didn't disclaim that), but seeing a girl with actual curves, who's an admitted size 14 win this competition which is normally dominated by stick figures and anorexic ghetto girls was really cool.
5. "Her parents have a pool." How I Met Your Mother - Sandcastles in the Sand
This episode is one of the best examples of what makes How I Met Your Mother great. Combining the oddball out there humor, and real friendship heart. Sandcastles in The Sand brings back Robin Scherbotsky's early nineties teenage alter-ego "Robin Sparkles" the Canadian pop sensation who created the hit "Let's go to the mall." "Sandcastles in The Sand" is Robin's other single, which never made the charts. It did however introduce her to Simon, a loser who she dated for the 2 1/2 weeks of Canadian summer. These things aren't what made the episode great, it was three things, 1. Simon was played by James Vanderbeek, who on his return to Robin's life had a receeding hairline and a beer gut. I always appreciate the Creek kids trying to get back in the game. 2. I forget what it was that got Barney upset, but in the end Robin ended up comforting him, which established my new favorite hopeless couple to root for, Barney and Robin. and 3. The actual "Sandcastles in The Sand" video and song which were both as awful as you would think they would be.
4. "I would eat Tangerine Chicken but I don't have Tangerine Chicken" - The Big Bang Theory: The Tangerine Factor
Just like Sandcastles is the best of How I Met Your Mother, the season finale of Big Bang was the perfect storm of this hilarious one note joke show. Adorably awkward Leonard finally made his move on sweet and sexy Penny. In the second season we learned that this didn't work. But it was nice anyway. The B plot line was Sheldon trying to get to the bottom of a mystery, was the chicken at their favorite chinese place tangerine chicken or orange chicken. Oh right and Wollowitz was being pervy looking for Penny's ex boyfriend's blog which detailed their sex life. Largely, brilliant.
3. "It's Not What I'd Have Done." - Heroes: Dual (Much thanks to my brother for helping me pick!)
Peter Petrelli has his powers back. Thank God for it! I'm not among the people who think that this season of Heroes has been horrible so far. I think it's a hell of a lot better than last season. But the pivotal, "We're Baaack," moment for me came when Peter injected himself with the newly perfected formula and got his powers back and flew himself and his brother Nathan out of a burning building. Nathan's response was that it wasn't what he would have done, and at last the Nathan/Peter dynamic was restored to what it always should have been. Nathan is a dick and Peter saves him anyway. Oh right, and we saw how Peter got his scar. Which is kick ass. Between that, Claire forgiving her dad and walking away from the "Petrelli lifestyle" and "killing" Sylar, she's well on her way to fulfilling her destiny, you know becoming a brunette. I can't wait to see what happens next which is part of the redemption. Heroes is on it's way back to what we loved, I promise it is. Oh right, and Milo with the scar...totes hotter than Milo without the scar. Meow!
2. Meeting Half Way - Weight Loss: The Office
The moment Office fans all waited for. Jim proposing to Pam in the most Jim and Pam way possible. They met at a gas station half way between Scranton and New York (For your information, no such place exists.) and he got on one knee in the rain. It was the squeal heard round the world. Jim and Pam's relationship is so wonderful, and sweet and pure, it's nice to see it come to this step. We'll see what happens after the holidays, but I think things will keep being good, don't you?
1. "This is me! And I love you!" - Gossip Girl: Oh Brother, where Bart Thou
Nothing, and I mean nothing captivated me this year like the Gossip Girl fall finale. Chuck's breakdown, the revelation of Lilly and Rufus's baby...and most importantly, as usual, my favorite part of anything Gossip Girl, Blair showing her humanity. Her sobbing begging confession of her feelings to Chuck and his subsequent rejection and then acceptance and then his running away...it's like everything amazing about the Blair and Chuck romance all wrapped up into one angsty perfect hour. I can barely contain my excitement for the coming return...it's only two weeks away, thank God!
So there you have it. Yes 2008 was hard. The economy collapsed, my presidential candidate lost, but there were good things too. Like Turtle finally got a girlfriend, The Heroes began to fulfill their destiny, a fat girl finally won ANTM, Barney and Robin hooked up and Blair and Chuck confessed their love. Perhaps that makes up for it. Maybe.
10. Perfection, always - Dancing With The Stars: Kristi Yamagucci's Win
Yes, I'm starting my list with my top guilty pleasure, that I don't really feel that guilty about. DWTS has had some kick ass champions in the past. God F*cking Bless Us...
Last night while watching A Muppet's Christmas Carol Jen and I started coming up with some ideas for our own version of the Charles Dickens Classic.
An HBO Original Christmas Carol
We came up with a few bits, and I came up with some myself. If anyone has any other suggestions feel free!
Obviously there's Scrooge: Tony Soprano is the obvious choice. I mean, the cheating the killing the whole mob boss thing, he's a good fit.
Marley: Larry David...Come on, Larry's whining combined with those clinking chains, terrifying. Also hilarious.
Bob Cratchet: Say it with me folks LLOYD!!!! Ari's poor put upon assistant has the right amount of cheer and lovable subservience to fit into poor Cratchet's icey cold desk. God knows he's good at putting up with the abuse.
Tiny Tim: Eric Murphy. OK, maybe it's just because of all those little man jokes Ari always makes, but think about it. E would be a welcome relief from all of those perky happy Tiny Tims. A sardonic Tiny Tim who's always on his cell phone, it would work.
Belle (Scrooge's Fiancee in the past): Carrie Bradshaw. After her relationship with Scrooge bites the big one she can make some bad pun about how he loved money more than her. Plus you know, he can criticize her about spending all of her money on shoes.
The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come: Sookie from True Blood. She has visions. It works. Also she reads minds and is in love with a vampire who could kick Edward Cullen's ass. Not that that has anything to do with A Christmas Carol but I just like saying it.
The Ghost of Christmas Present: Turtle. Mostly cuz he's chubby and round and adorable. Not to mention you know, he's Turtle, he's all about living in the moment.
That's all I've got so far, but I'm totally open to suggestions if you've got 'em!
