40

I wrote at the beginning of the season how much I love this game.

Moments like last night are why. Andy Pettite won the final game of the ALCS championship with Mariano Rivera closing it out. Just like back in the late 90's, when the Yankees were on top of the world.

The Bronx is back baby! Can you believe this is the team's 40th Pennant win?

Insanity...

Next stop 27th World Series! WOOOO!

Wasting away again.

I spent tonight drinking margaritas and watching the Yankees with my bff Katherine. We sort of winged it on the drinks but we came up with a pretty nifty combo, so here's our version:

Reenie and Katherine's Frozen Margarita's:

3/4 Cup of Tequila

1/2 Cup of Lime Juice

1/4 Cup of Cointreau (or some other Triple Sec)

3 oz Frozen Limeaide

Splash of Orange Juice (something I learned in Florida)

Place ingredients in blender with as much ice as desired. (We used about half the blender, but then they were too thick so we had to add water to smooth them out)

Circle the rim of your glass with a lime wedge and rub in salt. Serve.

For us this gave us two, but like I said, they were thick, and strong, but yummy. The orange juice is key. It cuts the lime and tequila tastes well.

The smell of freshly cut grass...

I'm about to show you all a completely different side of myself. Or at least those of you who haven't actually met me...

See, from reading this blog over the past few months you've clearly gathered what a huge girl I am...and I mean that in the sense that I am extremely girly, it's just my way...but there is one tomboyish thing that I've always had, and will always have.

I love baseball. Specifically, I love the New York Yankees...and Alex Rodriguez.*

I love the Yankees for lots of reasons...I was raised by Yankee fans, my grandparents grew up in New York City, when I was eight, the first time I could really understand what it meant to win something like that they began the most amazing winning streak in the history of sports...its all of these also blended with the amazing history of the team. I'm a nerd, I like things that I can research.

With opening day of the new Yankee Stadium looming tomorrow, and me eager for another exciting summer of watching the boys in the Bronx I couldn't help but share it!

*See the asterix? He's still my favorite player ever even if he is a slimy cheater. I'm loyal and it takes more than half a season of steroid use and an affair with a too old for him pop star to shake my devotion. Even in his "slump" for the past few years he still has one of the best averages in baseball.

Odd Man Out

Hey, so I was watching The Daily Show, and I saw that commercial for the new Guitar Hero, you know the one where A-Rod, Kobe, Michael Phelps and Tony Hawk are all playing, and Kobe's totes lame because the rest of them are in their underwear and he's wearing shorts. Anyway, Kobe's not the odd man out in that group...he sort of is, but he's not the one I'm thinking of.

A-Rod has never won the top prize in his sport. He doesn't have a World Series Ring. Kobe has multiple NBA Championships, Tony Hawk must have won some skateboarding thing, I don't know how that sport works, and Michael Phelps has more Olympic medals than any human.

This strikes me as strange and granted its not all his fault, but I'm just saying. Maybe Derek should be in the add, Derek has several World Series championships.
