When you wish upon a...POW!

OK, I've been staying away from talking about it, because I try to stay away from these kinds of discussions, but I just can't ignore it anymore.

I'm talking of course about Disney's recent acquisition of Marvel Entertainment.

Personally, I'm sort of thrown off. I get it. I get the business end of it, and I love Disney as a company. They have a great history of making sure that companies they own remain autonomous and yet get well marketed (Miramax is probably the most clear example, but Hollywood Records comes to mind too, and Pixar, at least in the early years)

My real confusion comes here, what will happen to this lovely place:

It's Marvel Superhero Island at Universal Studios in Orlando. Disney World's only real competition. Does it go away? Two years ago I met the X-Men there!

See? Also The Hulk is the greatest roller coaster ever. My friend Jenna recommends going on it "Like a million times!" If you ever get down there.
(We went on it about 4.)

Spider Man is not quite as good as the Hulk but we still went on it a lot (there was never much of a single riders line for it.)

So what happens? Does it go away? Do they pack it up and move it over to Epcot or something? WHAT'S THE DEAL? And why do I seem to be the only person who cares?

Cause down the shore everything's alright

Hey all! So I'm heading down to the Jersey Shore for the week (coming up for work during the days, pooh) but I'll be spending my nights down there, which means updates will slow (be slower than usual) but God, I'm psyched for this week!

There's nowhere in the world like the shore!

That's Bayhead! That's where I'll be! Have a good week! <3

All I ever wanted

So, I'm back at school now...which is good. But this post is about a couple of things.

1. Gloating about my awesome vacation
2. Showing you guys Kelsey (she's gorgeous, really!)
3. Showcasing what a really talented photographer my little sister is.

Gloating:

Seriously, Florida was exactly what I needed, the sun and everything was so much fun!

That's Palm Beach, where we spent a really fantastic day.
That's me, my mom and Mary in Palm Beach, we were shopping, not swimming, I'm wearing that hat because the day before I had gotten a wicked sunburn

More palm beach shopping. Also see how good Mary is at angles and line? I know!

Kelsey:

Kelsey is almost ten, so she's no puppy. She's also the most well behaved dog ever. She only barks when some foreign invader (usually a lizard or bird) enters her kingdom (their yard) or when she really needs to go outside. She never jumps on the furniture or people. She loves cheese...so of course we fed her lots of it because we adore her.
That's how she spent a large chunk of the week. She was sad and missed her mommy. Also, she's kind of old and tired.

She loves to swim, you can't get in the pool without her, she will jump on you.
Kelsey and Mary have always had a very special relationship. At their other vacation house in Rhode Island Mary used to throw a tennis ball into the water for Kelsey to swim for for hours. My mom's favorite picture of Mary is one of her holding brand new puppy Kelsey on her lap, it was put on many a birthday cake over the years.

And now for some of Mary's pure skill with her baby (her Nikon that she got as a high school graduation present.)

I'm extremely proud of how good she is, and we really did have a great time! Hope everyone has a good week!

Tiki tiki tiki tiki room...

me + mom + sister + tiki bar = lots and lots of fun...trust me!

Seriously, if you've met my mother, you know exactly what I'm talking about! We had a great night tonight at Guanabana's here in Jupiter. If you ever head down this way you should definitely check the place out. Terrific rum punch and margaritas (they add a splash of orange juice, totally doing that the next time I make margaritas!) and I had an amazing shrimp taco (about three margaritas ago lol!) but check the place out, we had a whole lot of fun. Now, we're watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall...also awesome...unless you're not into seeing Jason Segel's "pee pee" then its not so good. But its a funny movie none the less!

Surprise!

I don't get into my real life a whole lot on this thing...mostly because my real life is really not particularly interesting. Except when I start a week like this one.

See, last Sunday my mom called me, "Reenie, are you interested in going to Florida next week?" (She was in Florida, I'll explain in more detail in a bit.) I squealed in excitement! Did I want to go to Florida? Hell yes! Anything to get away from the North East in March...its a tough place to be. I didn't know if it was definitely happening until Thursday.

See, my dad's older brother is a retired member of the board of directors of a rather large corporation...the one based out of New York in that big building with the skating rink in front...you know, they probably made your refrigerator and many of my favorite shows are on their network. Yeah, that one. Needless to say he has a lot of money, and as such owns a house in Jupiter Florida. He also charters a private plane down there whenever he's going, my parents came down with him last weekend. This week, he's going to the bahamas with my Aunt, for her birthday. They have a beautiful yellow lab, and someone needed to watch the dog while they were away. Did I want to dogsit, along with my mom and sister? HELLS YES!

So this morning we flew down, this afternoon we sat by the pool, (I fried and read "Bright Lights, Big Ass," HEY! I read literature all the time for school, I'm on vacation and I will read Jen Lancaster's rants all I want!) and we're freshly back from a glorious dinner at a steak house (Lobster Bisque, 10 Oz Filet Mignonne nice and pink how I love it, mashed potatoes, flourless chocolate espresso cake, a vodka martini and a glass of red wine) relaxing in their huge living room watching the Big East Championship game (Uncle Denis is disappointed, because he went to UCONN, but we're watching anyway.) It is a joyous and wonderful week ahead of me...I'll be sure to update with good stories from the lap of luxury.
